ParentCONNECT - FAQ

Important Information About ParentCONNECT

Why am I not able to view grades?
Teachers are given access to their electronic grade books approximately three weeks into the beginning of each semester. Teachers then have the time consuming task of entering all assignment grades since the first day of the semester.

How do I find an overall grade average for my child's class?
Overall averages are only calculated by ParentCONNECTxp at the 6th, 12th, and at the end of each semester. This is also when you should expect progress reports. Please check with your student for progress reports at the 6th and 12th week marks and expect the progress report in the mail at the end of the semester. Please be sure the school has your current address.

How can I find assignment grades for my student?
Click on the <assignments> pencil (red book icon). To get the most comprehensive record of assignment grades, pull down the drop box that says <This Week> and scroll to <This School Year>. All assignments that have been entered thus far will then display. (Note: you may sort the chart by clicking on any of the column titles.)

How can I see current class averages?
Click on the <assignments> pencil (red book icon) and then click on the <Class Scores> tab.

How can I see past grades?
Click on the <Grades> pencil (paper and pencil icon) and then click on the <Course History> tab.

How can I contact a teacher?
While looking at assignment grades, you may click on the teacher's name to send an email. You will also find a list of all staff contact email addresses by clicking the <School Info> pencil (red school house icon) and then <Contacts> tab. Be sure you have your email address listed.

How can I get automatic e-mails concerning my child?
After logging in, click on the <Settings> button located at the top right corner of the screen and complete the Alert Notifications section.

If I get an automatic e-mail concerning my child’s attendance and/or grades, how do I know the source of that e-mail?
For attendance, click on the <Attendance> pencil. A calendar will appear giving a month-by-month attendance record. For grades, you should click on the <Assignments> pencil, and scroll down to <This School Year>. Grades will be posted for each assignment. If you have a question about a particular grade, you should contact the teacher.

Can I change my password?
Yes, click on the <Settings> button and complete the Change Password section.

Is there a place where I can see special announcements?

Guidelines for Using ParentCONNECT

To facilitate usage of ParentCONNECT, teachers have drawn up the following guidelines for putting in grades and for using ParentCONNECT. We believe that ParentCONNECT is a valuable tool for enhancing parent communication with students and with their teachers.

  • Parents may view individual student grades within ten school days from the assignment date.
  • Student quiz and test grades will be available for viewing in approximately ten schools days of the assessment being administered.
  • Parents may begin to look for grades on major projects, papers, in-class essays, and lab write-ups by approximately the 15th school day after the due date.

Please be aware of the following when using ParentCONNECT:

  • By no means does ParentCONNECT replace communication with your child. If you have questions about assignments and grades, please check with your child before consulting the school.
  • ParentCONNECT is a tool for looking at student overall progress in a class, not checking daily progress. Day to day activity can only be seen in the student's class attendance and discipline sections.
  • Many departments keep homework and participation grades in a way that can only be posted at the end of the semester. Your child is more than welcome to see those grades at the teacher's convenience and the teacher is happy to send home a copy of these at specific intervals.
